The Noho Star

The NOHO STAR was a neighborhood hub and a New York City gem. The famous and not famous found a welcoming place to meet, celebrate, relax.

The NOHO STAR will always hold a special place in my heart! Many of my New York stories start with the words “when I was at the NOHO STAR…” With friends, family and colleagues, I had many a delicious meal, a pot of green tea, good times, and royal treatment by the wonderful staff there.

I, and The Big Apple, suffered a big loss when the NOHO STAR served up its last good time, after 32 years, on New Year’s Eve 2017.  I was honored to be there with my dear friend, NYU Professor Ted Coons, and many of the NOHO STAR regulars, to say goodbye to the staff and to a New York City treasure.

The NOHO STAR cannot be replaced. The special moments there will live on in our hearts and memories.

Art and life came together at the always-welcoming NOHO STAR as Luanne and her co-actors, Omar Abdali and Logan McCoy, rehearsed for their performance of the play God Friended Me On Facebook.
